Many Sierra Vistans are transplants from other parts of the nation and the world, so it's no surprise we get worked up when we think a favorite flavor from "home" is being imported into our community.

What Sierra Vista Residents Say They Want in Fast Food

When we've polled our neighbors about which new restaurants we'd like to see come to our area, a few standouts get mentioned repeatedly:

In 'N Out Burger
Rubio's
Popeye's
Red Lobster

Yeah, ok. That last one isn't fast food, but what kind of Sierra Vistan would I be if I didn't mention it?

So, scratch RED LOBSTER off your list of guesses. However, construction has begun on the new Popeye's, Sierra Vista's long-anticipated restaurant.

Where Will Popeye's Restaurant Be in Sierra Vista?

Popeye's first opened in Louisiana in 1976. This fast-food chain is known for its hometown-inspired flavors. No matter where you're from, this often spicey, always delicious treat will fit right into the fabric of flavors in Cochise County.

Construction is just beginning on the new Popeye's. It'll be located at 629 Highway 90, Sierra Vista, behind the curiously-still-closed Burger King, between Subway and Dutch Bros., in the same plaza as CAL Ranch and Hobby Lobby.

If everything goes as planned, the restaurant should be built by July and open sometime in the late summer or early fall.

Will there be a line out the door? Will Sierra Vista once again rejoice in having another fast-food option in town?

The answer to all these questions is, of course, yes. Just remember to cut them a little slack when they open the doors. They'll get the hang of things, and we'll have one more local business to enjoy.
