
Police Investigate Deadly Apartment Shooting on 7th Street in Sierra Vista
Events on Wednesday afternoon in Sierra Vista turned tragic when police responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex on the 300 block of 7th Street.
According to a Press Release from the City of Sierra Vista, multiple 911 calls came in around 2 p.m. reporting a gunshot victim in the Falcon Court Apartments.
According to the Press Release, “Officers responded to the area and identified a victim on the steps of an apartment building with a gunshot injury to his hand.”

Upon further investigation, “[o]fficers also observed a second lifeless victim lying on the floor of an apartment on the 2nd floor of the building. When officers entered the apartment, they also found a dog that sustained a gunshot wound.”

Here’s What Sierra Vista Police Discovered at the Scene
Investigators quickly secured the scene and began piecing together what happened.
Officers located the deceased victim, later identified as 43-year-old Calisha Schafer of Sierra Vista, inside the apartment. The injured individual was transported to Canyon Vista Medical Center for treatment. Animal Control Officers transported the dog for emergency care, but it did not survive.
Detectives executed a search warrant and recovered evidence that included multiple weapons and drug paraphernalia, according to the city’s press release.
KGUN9 reported that authorities worked through the evening collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.

Is There Any Ongoing Threat to the Public?
At this time, police say there are no outstanding suspects, which may provide some reassurance to nearby residents. This is still an active investigation, and detectives will continue to interview anyone connected to the incident as they analyze evidence.
