The Sweet Program Letting Sierra Vista Residents Host a Shelter Dog for a Night
Remember the fun of sleepovers with your best friend when you were a kid? Staying up late, giggling with your besties, and breaking out of your routine for a night or two? Those were the nights that made memories!
The Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center in Sierra Vista is inviting you to participate in the totally pawsome Doggie Sleepover Program. It’s fun for you and a wonderful respite for a shelter dog. The program is like a slumber party for pups, and it offers a short-term foster adventure for dogs at the shelter.
If you’ve got a night, a weekend, a week, or a month, you get to set the schedule. You get to decide how long the sleepover lasts!
The Nancy J Brua Animal Care Center: Doggie Sleepover Program
Arleen Garcia and her team dreamed up this program. It’s a win-win for dogs and dog lovers who can’t take on a dog full-time.
Getting started is easy. Just drop by the shelter and fill out a quick application. As long as you live in Cochise County, you can pick out your new furry friend for a sleepover.
Arleen puts it best: “You can take a pup home for a night, a week, or as long as you’d like. It’s all about what works for you!”

Who Should Be a Doggie Sleepover Host?
There are as many reasons to consider hosting a dog in your home. You might be the perfect candidate if:
You’re thinking about adopting a dog. While the dog is away from the shelter, you’ll be helping them make room for more dogs. Every sleepover frees up a spot for another dog in need.
Plus, your sleepover stories help the shelter learn more about each dog’s quirks, favorites, and personality. The more they know about each dog, the easier it is for them to find a forever home!

If You'd Like to Be a Host, You're Not Alone
The shelter team handles the details. Your sleepover buddy is up to date on shots, spayed or neutered, and ready for adventure. They’ll even hook you up with supplies like leashes, bowls, and dog food!
