Here is an event to put on your calendars. This is a great starting point for students to understand the big picture of the law and how it works in everyday life. Here is the press release from Cochise County about the event in Benson.

Cochise County Superior Court will host Law Day at Benson High School on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, beginning at 9:00 am – 10:30 am. Law Day was established in 1957 by America Bar Association president Charles S. Rhyne who envisioned a special day for celebrating our legal system. President Dwight D. Eisenhower established Law Day as a day of national dedication to the principles of government under the law in 1958. The program continues today and has grown to many countries around the globe.

The 2023 Law Day theme will be “Cornerstones of Democracy: Civics, Civility, and Collaboration.” with a view to rebuilding trust in our institutions, respect for one another and our willingness to collaborate to address the challenges that face our nation. The goal of Law Day is to celebrate the role of law in everyday life and in society. It also aims to educate the public on how the legal profession and system works as a whole.

Cochise County Superior Court invites all schools and students in our County to participate in Law Day. If any school is interested in a Law Day presentation, please contact Deputy Court Administrator Niltza Flores at nflores@cochise.az.gov.

Schools were invited to participate in Essay, Graphic Art, and Poster contests, and winners are invited to the Law Day ceremony and are recognized for their winning category.
