As Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump landed at the Sierra Vista Airport, the excitement was palpable.

People came from all over Southeastern Arizona to show their support for the 45th president.

Cochise County Welcomes Donald Trump to the Border

Many enthusiastic people lined the streets of Sierra Vista and said they're hoping to call Mr. Trump the 47th president, as they plan to cast their vote for him this fall.

"Trump is passionate about our country," Renee told us. She and her friend Linda showed up in the early morning heat to wave signs that read, Trump-Make America Great Again-2024.

"He's the best president we ever had," Linda added. "Our country needs him."

Teaching Kids Civics by Example in Arizona

Working for a local private school allowed this education group to take the classroom into the real world.

Tiffany Boldin and Amanda Lindsey from Mountain View Academy told us Mr. Trump's arrival in Cochise County was the perfect opportunity to show the kids what democracy was all about.

The students created hand-made signs and learned about democracy and the right to assemble in real-time as they waved their signs and cheered the candidate on, waiting for the former president's motorcade to pass by.

It was easy to see how excited the group was. The kids have been learning about government, democracy, and how voting works in America.

"It's a great way to teach our children how our system works," Tiffany said.

"And it's something the kids will never forget," Amanda added.

After the warm welcome that stretched from the Sierra Vista Airport to Montezuma Pass on the border, Donald Trump made a speech and then returned to the campaign trail. Sierra Vista will remember this event for a long time.
