The initiative is in response to the US Supreme Court's reversal of Roe v. Wade that guaranteed a right to an abortion in America. The decision was overturned in 2022, and states across the nation are deciding how to handle this sensitive issue.
Many of Mr. Trump's supporters expressed their feelings about the proposed amendment and how they think they might vote this November.
Deciding a Sensitive Issue this Fall
Linda and Renee (pictured above) told me they support an amendment to the Arizona constitution "as long as there are limitations." They said that they believe extenuating circumstances should be taken into account before making the decision [to obtain an abortion] and believe the life of the fetus should be considered.
They told me they would like to learn more about the proposed Arizona amendment before deciding how they will vote.
Other supporters agreed. While they believe there are reasons a woman might seek this choice, they said, ultimately, the decision is up to her.
