Celebration of Animals Coming to Veterans Park
Every April Veterans Park turns into a Celebration of Animals. The brainchild of the Nancy J Brua Animal Care Center, each year animal welfare organizations from all over Cochise County flock to the event to share their specialty.
The Greater Sierra Vista Kennel Club will host an AKC-sanctioned breed obedience and rally match. This is always a fun demonstration, and adults and kids alike delight in this exhibit.
Meet an Alpaca
If you've never met an alpaca, a sheep or a chicken in person, this is a great time to get in touch - literally - with the type of animal you might find on a farm. Members of the Cochise County 4-H set up a petting zoo.
This is your chance to bring the kids and learn about animals raised throughout the community.
Adopt Don't Shop
If you've considered adopting a pet this is the place. Hearts of Gould Animal Haven and the Nancy J Brua Animal Care Center will bring adoptable pets for you to see and fall in love with.
Snakes! Oh, My!
Not sure which snakes you should be concerned about? William "The Snake Guy" Schumacher, our local snake expert, will show you some of his 'ambassador' snakes and let you know which venomous snakes you should be concerned about.
Enjoy adoptions, educational booths, alpacas, horse-drawn wagon rides, reptiles, a petting zoo, demos, raffles, food trucks, and much more!
Education and More
Some of the organizations who will be at the event are the Greater Sierra Vista Kennel Club, Huachuca City Animal Care and Control, CCSO Animal Care and Control, Bisbee Animal Shelter, Sierra Vista Animal Care and Control, The Snake Guy, Friends of The SV Animal Shelter Inc., Horse’n Around Rescue, 4-H Club and many more.
The event is scheduled for Saturday April 29th in Veterans Memorial Park in Sierra Vista and will run from 9am to 3pm. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
