This May Be the Most Dog-Friendly City in Arizona

Tombstone

Cochise County has a lot of great towns, each with its own distinct personality. Spend a little time in Tombstone, and you're bound to see a gun fight in the middle of the street, ladies in 1880s finery wander around under the pretense of shopping, while "ladies of the evening" add to the vintage Wild West persona.

Sierra Vista

Spend some time in Sierra Vista, and you'll find yourself standing behind our fine members of the military as they run errands or grab a bite before heading back to Fort Huachuca. Many veterans who live in town will quietly pay for their lunch or reach out and shake the hand of our active-duty soldiers.

Bisbee

But head over to Bisbee and you'll find a completely different flavor of Cochise County. Antique shops sit next to art galleries. Pop into one of the unique restaurants for gourmet cake, artisan pizza, a bowl of soul-soothing phở, or fresh-baked quiche.

One thing you'll find in Bisbee that you might not see in other Arizona cities, is how dog-friendly and welcoming they are toward our best friends.

Well-behaved dogs are invited into many of the shops and nooks, and for the restaurants who don't invite the dogs into the restaurant, they're happy to have you and your pooch on their porch or patio.

Dog bowls filled with water are found up and down Main Street, sometimes just outside the door, occasionally just inside the door. Some of the shop owners even have treats behind the counter, which they happily reveal in exchange for a chance to greet fido with a little pet.

Meet Maggie

There's even a sweet little shop on Main where you can usually find the owner's dog drowsing a chair next to the register.

Maggie is the ancient Chihuahua/Papillon mix who is the real store manager. She doesn't even raise her head when customers enter anymore.

She's seen people from all over the world stop in to browse, and she's no longer impressed by anything. She'll gladly accept a scritch behind the ear, but don't expect this old girl to get too excited about it. She's back to snoozing as soon as you're done.
