One more Arizona chain has succumbed to the struggling economy. Rite Aid pharmacies were once one of the largest drugstore chains in the United States. After years of floundering, Rite Aid announced that they are officially shutting down all its stores, including every single Arizona location.

How Many Rite Aid Pharmacies Were in Arizona?

At the time of the announcement, there were eighty-nine Rite Aid locations still operating nationwide. Arizona had just 6 stores left, according to retail data from ScrapeHero.

That small handful of stores might not sound like a lot, but it's a significant blow to the communities they serve.

With each Arizona store employing approximately 10 to 15 people, the state has lost nearly 100 jobs as the locations are shuttered. Statewide, that's a drop in the bucket, but for some of the smaller communities, the impact is felt on a deeper level.
