Two Dangerous Criminals Have Accidentally Been Released From Arizona Jail
We have jails for a reason. Some people make mistakes they just can't apologize away, and we keep them away from the public for just that reason.
These jails are run with very little room for error, and there's a reason you almost never hear of mistakes being made in these environments. Arizona just made a massive mistake they may not be able to come back from.
Accidental Release
In late March, the Pima County Adult Detention Complex made a massive blunder, and released two inmates who had no right being released. The first was 24 year old Demetri Lopez, who showed up for processing on March 27th, and was let go by Pretrial services with no questions asked.
The second was 27 year old Cristian Barrionuevo, who was meant to be placed under the supervision of his parole officer. Instead, Cristian was released on March 28th, and obviously, didn't want to stick around.

Where are They Now?
Luckily (or rather, unluckily), this isn't a new problem for Pima County, encountering five of these mistakes in the past five years (seven if you count Lopez and Barrionuevo), so they know how to take care of this.
Lopez' absence was noticed within 30 minutes, and within three days, he was apprehended and taken into custody. Barrionuevo, on the other hand, is still at large. Authorities are begging for anyone with information to come forward, and have been directing those with any knowledge to call 911 and turn Cristian in.
Two mistaken releases in two days is certainly worrying, but PCADC is confident this was a one (or two) time incident.
