How to Save Cans and Lives with the Sierra Vista Animal Shelter
Simple Ways You Can Help the Animal Shelter in Sierra Vista
Helping animals at the shelter in Sierra Vista is easier than you think. According to a recent Facebook post by Sierra Vista Police, Fire, and EMS, they are seeking "enthusiastic volunteers" to assist with their aluminum can recycling efforts.
Collect Aluminum Cans for the Nancy J Bruan Animal Care Center
The Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center would like your help with a simple but surprisingly impactful project: collecting aluminum cans!

If you drink beverages like soda, simply save the aluminum cans and drop them into the blue recycling bins located in front of the shelter.
You can drop off aluminum cans or just the can tabs. When you drop them off, please make sure all donations are bagged and only drop off aluminum cans; the animal shelter can't recycle glass, plastic, or wet pet food cans.

You Can Help Get the Aluminum Cans Ready to Go
After the cans are collected, the animal shelter really needs help getting those cans bagged up and ready to go to the recycling center. They're asking for volunteers 18 years old and older who can transfer the cans to large potato sacks to be sent to a recycling center in Tucson.
The shelter currently has two volunteers who regularly take the cans to Tucson every week, but there's room for more. They're looking for anyone over 18 who can run the bags of aluminum cans to the recycling center.
Recycling Cans: How Does the Money Help the Sierra Vista Animal Shelter?
The funds raised from the recycling project directly support the animal shelter and its programs. Your empty soda cans really do make a difference for dogs and cats, and the other animals at the shelter.
There have been some changes with the staffing and processes at the animal shelter recently, and they're looking for anyone willing to volunteer to help fill the gaps.
The can recycling program is one of many areas where the shelter needs extra help maintaining, so if you or anyone you know has a few extra hours, they would be grateful for your assistance.
