What is Cochise County Missing and What Does the County Need More Of?
Cochise County is a beautiful place to live. We have beautiful weather, wide open spaces, and amazing places to get outdoors to hike and explore nature. Cochise County even has state parks and historic sites you can visit.
We asked. You answered. You even added things you think we have plenty of. We'll explore your thoughts.
The Top Things Cochise County Needs More Of
- Family-centered activities and activity centers
- Better healthcare options/doctors
- Grocery stores in rural areas
- Alternative grocery stores like Trader Joe's and Sprouts
- Large Industries or companies to provide better jobs
Family Fun Centers
A skating rink, bowling alley, trampoline park, miniature golf, go-carts. Some of these activities have been mentioned repeatedly. If we could give kids and teens somewhere to go, Cochise County would be vastly improved.
That's what our Facebook followers told us. While we've had a few locals try to get this type of venue off the ground, they're very popular at first but seem to fizzle out fast. I'm not sure if we forget about them or if the cost to run these places outstrips our family budget.
Improved Healthcare Options
"Good quality doctors," Keasha told us. She thinks our local healthcare choices have room for improvement.
Others thought we could use a local neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to care for special care newborns and a regional level 1 trauma center.
Grocery Stores
We need, "an actual grocery store in Hereford," Amanda says. She would put it on the other side of Pizzeria Mimosa on Highway 92. A lot of people in Cochise County feel the same way.
"A Target store in Willcox, or at least in that part of the county would keep a lot of people from driving so far just to get basic necessities," Connie mentioned.
Other respondents thought it would be nice to have some alternative grocery stores like Trader Joe's, Sprouts, or even Whole Foods available in Cochise County. I'm not sure we'd be able to sustain a Whole Foods, just yet, but it's a nice idea.
Other Things We'd Like to See in Cochise County
With Fort Huachuca as our major employer in Sierra Vista and tourism as the driving force for other parts of Cochise County, a lot of people think a good solid industry would provide jobs. "We need something other than food service," Sabrina mused.
What Else Does Cochise County Need?
- 24-hour and/or Emergency Veterinarian Services
- More Art and Stronger Education
- Improved Roads
Cochise County has really grown, but some of us would like to see an expansion of some of the services people in bigger areas take for granted.
The list of things we need or would like to have in Sierra Vista, Hereford, Huachuca City other areas in Cochise County seems to be consistent.
