If you've been to Costco and purchased frozen fruit, you'll want to check your freezer.

The FDA announced on its website, that Wawona Frozen Foods issued a voluntary recall on June 8, 2023, stating:

"Wawona Frozen Foods is voluntarily recalling year-old packages of its Organic DayBreak Blend distributed to Costco Wholesale stores in Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah and Washington from April 15, 2022 to June 26, 2022 because the DayBreak Blend includes organic frozen strawberries grown in Mexico which may have the potential to be contaminated with Hepatitis A."

 

The brand, Wawona Organic DayBreak Blend Frozen Fruit Mix was available for purchase at Costco stores in Arizona, as well as stores in California, Colorado, Utah, and Washington.

If you purchased this brand of fruit between April 15, 2022 and June 26, 2022. The products may still be in your freezer. Check the 'use by' dates to verify.

Check the Use By Dates on the Packages for Fruit

The recalled products have a Use By date of 09/23/2023, 09/29/2023, 09/30/2023 or 10/18/2023

The company has voluntarily recalled the frozen fruit packages due to, "possible Hepatitis A contamination of some of the organic strawberries grown in Mexico that were included in the blend."

What to Do with the Frozen Fruit

If you find this in your freezer, either throw it away or return it to Costco for a refund. You can also contact Wawona Frozen Foods at 1-866-534-9986 for more information.
