Conflicting Accounts of What Happened

According to the City of Sierra Vista, both of the individuals involved in the altercation told police they had arranged to meet for a gun sale, but from there, their stories diverged.

The press release stated that during the investigation, the suspect, who was accused of shooting the other individual, contacted the Sierra Vista Police Department, who met with detectives to provide an interview.

Both individuals confirmed that they met for a gun sale, but the stories they shared about what happened next were slightly different.

According to the Press Release, the individual who was shot said, “the subject selling the gun had left the gun in his car before the sale was finalized and exited the vehicle before opening fire. The suspect who came forward afterward said that the suspect who was shot had robbed him at gunpoint before later opening fire first.”

The Press Release also stated that the person who was shot told detectives that “the seller exited a vehicle and opened fire before the deal was finalized.” The other suspect claimed he had been robbed at gunpoint and that the shooting happened following the alleged robbery, and that the other individual was the first to fire a weapon.
