Will Arizona Residents Be Getting an $8,000 DOGE Stimulus Check?
Are you hesitant to check your work email these days? Are you worried you'll discover a strongly worded email from Elon Musk and the DOGE team demanding you justify your time last week?
You're not alone. For many of Arizona's federal workers, this is a reasonable fear. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) seems swift and intense in executing deep federal spending cuts.

Some people think this is a long overdue idea. Others think there should be enough money from the slashing of "unnecessary funds" to give each taxpaying American some money back. Some estimate that an $8,000 refund check isn't unreasonable.

In the era I'm calling "stranger things have happened," the odds of getting some of your tax money returned to you isn't out of the question.
This viral TikTok video by user ByHis.Truth even goes so far as to explain the administration's theory of abolishing the Federal Income Tax and returning the full $8 Grand to "every man, woman, and child in America."
Imagine keeping a large chunk of the money you make, and then you get to decide how that money's spent. Your family could splurge and buy a whole carton of eggs!

What Would the Federal Government Do Instead of Income Tax?
The federal government still needs to fund the US Military, Social Security, and other programs, so if the income tax were abolished, what would replace it?
Enter the Fair Tax Act of 2025. This Republican-sponsored bill would replace the federal income tax with a national sales tax and rebate. It would eliminate the IRS. Imagine: no need to file tax returns to (hopefully) get some of your hard-earned money returned to you. No audits. No IRS threats. No tax shelters.
President Trump's Plan to Replace Income Tax
President Trump has suggested financing the government through high tariffs on imports. A Republican lawmaker introduced the Fair Tax bill, which would repeal and replace the bloated tax code with a single national consumption tax.

On the upside, visitors to the US would help pay the tax when they purchase goods, as well as anyone who makes their money under the table or through shadier sources. Even drug dealers would pay the federal tax on goods.
On the downside, everything would cost more, and many believe a flat sales tax could disproportionately impact the poor and middle class.
So, Will Arizona Taxpayers Get a Stimulus Check?
Things are changing every day, but to be clear, no one is printing checks today. Stranger things have happened, though, so the outcome is anyone's guess - for now.
