I recently had a fascinating conversation with a 6-year-old. She told me all about her favorite dinosaurs and could even tell me which era they existed in.

She may be the target audience for the upcoming Jurassic Wonders exhibit opening soon at the Henry F. Hauser Musuem in Sierra Vista, but kids from 1 to 100 will find something exciting to see and learn.

From the City of Sierra Vista press release, "Explore the marvels of prehistoric life from trilobites to dinosaurs inside the Henry F. Hauser Museum starting Saturday, May 6 when its Jurassic Wonders exhibit opens."

The May 6th opening day exhibit begins at 10am - and it's priced right for the whole family. Admission is free for everyone. On opening day, the museum will feature a short presentation, light refreshments, a ribbon cutting, and crafts for kids.

If you can't make it on May 6th, don't worry, visitors can stop by anytime during regular hours until September 29th.

What to Expect

"The Jurassic Wonders exhibit tells the story of ancient life dating back to 500-million-year-old trilobites, inviting visitors to voyage through prehistoric ecosystems and witness the evolution of life."

There will be 500 fossil specimens and replicas to see and experience, plus six full-sized dinosaur skeletons, mammoth fur and teeth, invertebrates, plants, and other prehistoric life from Cochise County and around the world.

The highlight for kids will be the hands-on, interactive Junior Paleontologist Labs.

Kids can dig into the fossil lab in the dig area and discover real fossils, then take them to the fossil examination table for further study. Don't miss the charcoal fossil rub area, and the dinosaur-nesting section.

And children will even get to dress the part by donning lab coats and lanyard IDs provided to complete the experience.

Pick up a Prehistoric Passport for prizes!

People of all ages can participate in the City’s Prehistoric Passport Program by attending dinosaur-themed events to win prizes.
