Get A Call From Arizona Police? It’s Likely A Scam
Is it just me, or does it seem like we're getting scammed more and more over the past year? Sure, I was used to getting the occasional scam call, but it seems I go through at least six per day now.
They're getting more and more creative with these scams too, and the latest in the Grand Canyon State seems to take the cake.
Fake Police
Over the past month, a troubling trend has begun with scams in Arizona. The callers are posing as police officers demanding a payment for some crime or another. These scammers have access to the victim's names and addresses, making them sound as qualified as they should be.
They'll demand a payment, typically through gift cards, and once that payment goes through, the call ends, and the number becomes unreachable. So what should you do if you're unsure of your situation?

What to Do if a Police Officer Calls You
Let's get one thing right off the bat: a police officer will never, and I mean NEVER, call you demanding money. There are proper channels to go through for a reason, and if you suspect you do have outstanding fees, you should contact your local courthouse.
While scams have been getting harder to detect, there are plenty of warning signs you should be on the lookout for. From misspelled words on texts to demanding payment through Cryptocurrency or gift cards, these scammers are not perfect. So stay safe, and if you have any doubt, hang up!
