Stephanie Fulton, the director of library and community services for Huachuca City, was on First Watch to talk about their Summer Splash Program and the Library Summer Reading Program.
Fulton: I'd like to remind people that we have our Summer Splash program; it is a summer camp for children from kindergarten through the completion of 6th grade. The program runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 1:30, and they get breakfast and lunch. They go swimming twice a week in our pool, and they do a lot of fun games and activities, and they participate in our summer reading programs down at the library. The theme of that is "All Together Now."
We've got a lot of nice programs, free programs as well at the library for children of all ages, plus a couple of programs from Coronado National Monument and Kartchner Caverns.
The Summer Splash Program, it's very inexpensive. It's $70 for a four-week session per child if they're in the Huachuca City area. If they're out of the Huachuca City area, it's $100. If you sign up for both sessions, then you get a discount.

Tell us more about the Summer Reading Program.

Fulton: If people want to sign up for summer reading, we have prizes for adults and children as well if you read a certain amount of minutes or a certain amount of books over the summer.

Tell us about the Huachuca City Pool.

Fulton: We're hoping to open Memorial Day weekend. We're still in the middle of training and certifying some lifeguards, so we're hoping to be able to open, and we're looking forward to that because the pool does get used a lot, and it is very low cost to enter. This year we will be selling the summer passes again as well.
