Mariachi Festival in Douglas Promises an Unforgettable Celebration
Public Information Officer Grady Butler spoke to Sgt. Davidson from the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office on First Watch with Sheriff Mark Dannels this week. Something new is coming to Douglas: the first-ever Mariachi Festival.
Davidson was excited to talk about the event and stressed that it’s a community celebration, the first of many, which will not only bring the city together but will also help raise funds for some great local causes.

The Mariachi Festival in Douglas
The festival will be a lively afternoon of cultural music and dance, featuring mariachi bands and folklórico dancers. You can come as you are, hang out, and soak in the performances.
The festival itself is free to attend, and there’s something the whole family will enjoy.
When is the Mariachi Festival?
The festival takes place on Saturday, May 9. If you go, plan to stay for a while. The festival runs from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., giving folks plenty of time to swing by after lunch and still catch the evening fun.

Where It’s Happening
Everything takes place in Douglas, right in front of the historic Gadsden Hotel. Plan ahead, because Sgt. Davidson says the streets will be blocked off to create a safe, walkable festival space.
All for a Good Cause
Best part: admission is free. The fundraiser happens through food sales. There will be plenty to choose from, including barbacoa plates and make-your-own tacos, plus drinks. Drinks and beer will be served outside in the event area by The Gadsden Hotel.

Proceeds from the food sales will go back into the community: half to the newly opened Boys and Girls Club in Douglas, and half to the Mark Dannels Scholarship for Public Safety.
