Careful! Arizona Drivers to be Fined for Not Doing THIS!
“Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?” ―
We all have driving pet peeves.
One of my annoyances is being behind a driver who's going under the posted speed limit—SEVERELY under the limit. I mean, if you're doing 44 miles an hour in a 45-mile-an-hour zone, it's fine.
However, if you're going 44 and the posted driving speed is 65mph, please let us go around you, especially if you're in the left lane of a two- (or more) lane highway.

Quick Tip: If you notice drivers creeping up your bumper and cars passing you on the right, you're going too slow! You need to move into the right lane.
Arizona's Left Lane Law
The rules of the road are clear in Arizona: the left lane is not a leisurely parking spot or a hangout for slow drivers.
I get it. Sometimes, you're looking for the place where you have to turn left onto a street or into a business. However, in the age of GPS driving apps, Google will let you know when you have to turn left.
Pro Tip: If you're using the iOS driving app, delete it and download the Google app. You're welcome.
I'm not just being snarky. It's the law. Arizona's left lane law, Sargon Law Group explains: the left lane "is reserved for overtaking slower vehicles or preparing for a left turn."

Hot Tip: Slow drivers, you're not allowed to meander in the left lane at a snail’s pace; it's not only a breach of road etiquette but also a violation of state law.
The Arizona "Keep Right" Rule
Arizona Revised Statutes 28-729 “keep right” rule mandates that "drivers must stay in the right lane unless they are actively passing another vehicle or turning left." This law helps maintain the smooth flow of traffic on Arizona roads.
It also minimizes the risk of those "idiots" (ahem, I mean, other drivers) making unnecessary lane changes and putting everybody's life at risk.
How to Meet Arizona Law Enforcement Personnel
Feel free to ignore this law - at your own risk. Ignoring this law could hit you hard in the wallet.

In Arizona, if you’re caught driving slower than the flow of traffic in the left lane, you could face a pretty steep fine. The exact penalty can vary a bit, but it's possible you could be slapped with fines up to $250. With the cost of gas already through the sunroof, your little tour of the scenic route could get pretty pricey.
Follow Arizona's posted speed laws, both over and under the limit, and stay outta the fast lane if you're not at least going the speed limit. As YouTube User Luis Rodrigues shared, don't make the infamous Mr. Carlin right about us!
