For $5 cash or a donation worth at least $5, you can adopt a dog. Your new-to-you dog will have all its shots, a spay or neuter, a city pet license, a complete exam, and a microchip, and you'll help by freeing up valuable space at the shelter.

According to the press release, owner turn-ins are currently out-pacing adoptions. Animal Control Supervisor Arleen Garcia says, "We’re in a tight spot as we have numerous owner turn-ins for dogs scheduled in the coming weeks and we’ve exhausted the options we typically turn to when we hit capacity."
