Adding a New Policy to Protect Customers

Alternatively, you could click a link on their website and take care of the change of address or forward the request online. Customers could fill out the digital form, and then mail would magically show up at your new address. Customers can still begin on the web, but now there are some extra steps.
Changing Your Address: Additional Steps
The new policy requires customers to verify their identity in person at a post office. This step has been added to prevent fraud and to make sure the mail is forwarded to the correct address.
A bad actor can forward your mail or change your address, then steal checks and credit card information.
The New Policy Begins Immediately
The new policy applies to anyone filing a change of address request online or by mail.
