Remember When: Arizona Man Created Vulgar Graffiti Across Arizona City
In the state of Arizona, graffiti art can be quite beautiful & amazing to look at. But it's still considered a crime and people can get slapped with a misdemeanor or a felony charge when caught (not to mention the possibility of getting a fine or jail time). That didn't stop one man from spread his..."unique" artwork around Tempe, Arizona. He even gave himself a moniker
This was the story of the Arizona Penis Man
...Yeah. That's really want this guy wanted to be called as he would tag various buildings, signs, lamp posts, even a couch calling himself the "Penis Man" all over Tempe. This man put SO MUCH of his artwork all over town, it caught the attention of local news stations.
While some people thought it was pretty funny, most people were annoyed by this & concerned about little children seeing these pieces of art.
Eventually the Arizona "Penis Man" got caught
In January 2020, a 39 year old man, Dustin Shomer, was arrested on suspicion on charges of aggravated criminal damage & trespassing. He was sentenced to three years probation & had to pay $8,000 in damages.
BUT...that's not the end of the story of the "Penis Man". In 2023, there was ANOTHER story of this graffiti coming back, this time in Phoenix. Whether or not it's the same man is unknown but he's gained a bit of a following since his arrest in 2020. People on Reddit praised his actions when this story was brought up in the Arizona subreddit & there's even an Instagram page dedicated to his...art.
While I don't condone this behavior, it certainly has brought some certain corners of the Internet a lot of entertainment. It's safe to say that this story has become a bit of an Internet meme & as long as people keep talking about the P-Man, I don't see this going away anytime soon.
If it is true that the "Penis Man" is still out there, then the next time you're in Arizona, be on the look out for this man's artwork. They still might be out there...
