How To Legally Get Raw Milk In Arizona Without A Cow
Every few months, the American public gets itself worked up about some health crisis or another. Lately, that conversation's turned to raw milk, a controversial alternative to the jugs you'll pick up at the supermarket.
Is raw milk as bad as they say, and if not, can you buy it legally here in the Grand Canyon State?
What Makes Raw Milk Dangerous?
The milk you know an love from your local supermarkets goes through a process called pasteurization. This process heats up the milk, removing any harmful bacteria, some of which can cause deadly diseases we haven't heard since 1899 like Tuberculosis and Typhoid Fever.
Raw Milk does not go through this process, meaning it has certain bacteria in it you wouldn't normally find in your store-bought milk. These could include Listeria, Salmonella, and E. Coli. The most at risk for these infections are infants and children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems.

Is Raw Milk Legal in Arizona?
The short answer is: yes, raw milk is legal in Arizona. There are, however, some rules you need to follow before selling it. Firstly, the milk must be aged for at least 60 days before it can be sold to ensure it's as safe as possible.
You also must remember that it is illegal to bring raw milk into Arizona from out of state, as are "cowsharing" programs, where you buy a portion of a cow or goat, and get to keep the milk they produce.
If you are planning on switching to raw milk, please take the proper precautions to keep yourself and your family safe from disease.
