How Long Can Your Boss Go Without Paying You In Arizona?
Payday is, without a doubt, the best day of the month. No matter where you work, you'll be excited to see that deposit hit and watch those numbers in your bank account go up.
For most, paychecks are distributed weekly or bi-weekly, but what about those who get paid less frequently? Well, you may be a victim of an illegal practice.
Payday Comes Late
The state of Arizona is very clear on its employment laws. There are two very important rules when it comes to being paid by your employer that help employees from being taken advantage of.
The first requires that employers schedule at least two paydays a month, no further apart than 16 days. Following up on that, employers are not allowed to withhold your wages aside from a few exceptions, like having written permission from the employee, or being in the midst of a good faith discussion on the amount of money due for the paycheck.

What Happens if Your Pay is Withheld?
In the instance where you are not paid within these boundaries, there are a few courses of action you can take. The first, obviously, is taking the issue up with your company. However, if they don't comply, you should seek out legal action.
This typically involves filing a civil suit against the company after submitting formal letters and complaints to the employer. In a society where more and more people are living paycheck to paycheck, being paid late is nothing short of unacceptable, and you should do everything in your power to rectify the problem.
