Arizona Sends Its Best To The Olympics
Every four years, the greatest athletes from across the globe meet in one city to prove why they are the best of the best. The Olympics are a tradition older than everyone on earth today, and their true inception goes back further than the Bible (no joke).
Every athlete dreams of competing on the world's biggest stage, but only a select few can make the cut. Arizona's made sure that the Grand Canyon State gets its chance to shine.
Arizona Natives Represent
Out of the hundreds of athletes vetted for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team, seven call Arizona their home. They all hail from the metro-phoenix area, and hope to bring home the gold for the Valley of the Sun. Two to keep an eye on are skater Jagger Eaton, and gymnast Jade Carey.
Hailing from Mesa, Jagger Eaton is already a street skateboarding legend. He medaled five times in the X-Games, and brought the Bronze medal home at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic games.
Phoenix native Jade Carey is no stranger to an Olympic roster either. In 2021 she took home the Gold for her individual floor exercise in Tokyo and aims to do the same this year.
Arizona Pros Represent
While not born and bred Arizonans, the athletes that represent our state teams have become as synonymous with the state as the Grand Canyon itself.
The WNBA's Phoenix Mercury has three players that will represent Team USA Women's Basketball. Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and Kahleah Copper will all make the trip to Paris.
As for Men's Basketball, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns will help lead the charge for Team USA Men's.
