Obviously, the right to own weapons became a major point, leading to the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution promising "the right to bear arms".

Since then, however, gun laws have become America's number one issue, and Arizona hasn't exactly been handling it well.

Unfortunately, based on their metric, Arizona received an "F" for a multitude of reasons. Their major points were the lack of new gun safety laws in 2024, as well as the 1,344 annual gun related deaths in the state.

How Sports Betting Became Arizona's Biggest Problem

How Do we Fix This?

In order to combat senseless gun violence in Arizona, the Giffords Center reccommends:

  1. Requiring safe storage of any and all firearms
  2. Strengthening Domestic Violence laws
  3. Passing an extreme risk protection order law
  4. Repeal "Stand Your Ground"
  5. Invest in community violence intervention programs

Will these help Arizona's score rise, or will they just be more meaningless regulations on an already heavily regulated product?
