Are Arizonans Happy Living Here?
In 2021, I took my first visit to the deserts of Arizona. As a product of the southeast, I had never seen anything like it before, and I was instantly obsessed.
When I graduated college, I did everything I could to find work here, and as you can tell, I did.
I've been incredibly happy with my choice, but it seems I'm alone in that thinking.
Finding the Happiest State in America
WalletHub recently unveiled a study, trying to figure out the happiest state in the U.S. The survey was broken into three sections: Emotional and Physical Well-Being, Work Environment, and Community Environment.
By gauging the average of these three scores, we can put together who's the happiest with their statehood. Hawaii came away at the top, with a score of 68.71, while Louisiana ranked at dead last with a score of 32.97.
So, if these are the parameters, where does Arizona end up?

It's kind of hard to make a generalization when you're smack dab in the middle. That's exactly where Arizona is, sitting pretty at number 25. The Grand Canyon State earned a 52.13, sandwiching it in between Maine (51.56) and North Carolina (52.34). What exactly leaves us in the middle of the road?
Frankly, we should be ranked much lower, with Emotional/Physical Well-Being ranking in at #26, and Work Environment at #28. This is all saved by community, which jumps way up to #14, and for good reason! The people here are a major reason why people love living in Arizona.
Your job might not be the best, and you might not be taking care of yourself, but as long as you've got good friends, anywhere can be heaven.
