Human bodies are some of the most fascinating creations on this earth. We are somehow simultaneously indestructible with an incredibly quick healing factor while also being so so easy to break.

Sometimes, our bodies can even forget that we're injured, and put off the problem to days, weeks, or even years down the line.

Imagine 26.

Unexpected Trouble Breathing

32 year old Ben Havoc was having trouble breathing. For a not insignificant portion of his life he has suffered with sleep apnea and asthma, the cause of which was unknown to him. He began to see a doctor, who recommended blowing his nose in the shower to try to negate the dry Arizona summers.

He began to do this for about six months, hoping that it could cause at least some relief. To his surprise, in late August, he blew something out, something made of plastic. And suddenly, he could breathe.

What was it that was causing him discomfort for all these years?

A Lego Brick

Yes. Back in the 1990s, when Havoc was around 6 years old, he was playing with Legos. For some reason or another, he decided to stick a singular Lego stud (the circular one by one piece) up his nostril. Obviously panicked, Havoc stuck a minifigure up to dislodge the piece until the head of the figure broke off as well.

He called his mother, who used a pair of tweezers to pull the head out. Thinking she got everything cleared up, the matter was left alone. Until this year, of course, when Havoc realized that 26 years of discomfort had all been because of this one mistake they made.

If something gets stuck in you or your child's nostril, apply pressure to the opposite nostril and blow your nose. Avoid grabbing with fingers of cotton swabs, as they may inflame the area and make it harder to dislodge.
