Whoa, whoa, whoa. Are those gas prices or ZIP codes?

Driving past the gas station these days can cause heart palpitations. If you catch a glimpse of the per-gallon cost of fuel, you’re likely to run off the road in despair.

We’re feeling the squeeze, and rising prices are making things harder for families in Arizona. Groceries cost more, and gas prices are getting ridiculously high.

In Arizona, when life gives us lemons, make guacamole. (Hopefully, life also gives us avocados, tomatoes, and garlic. Okay, bad analogy, but you get my point!)

How High Are Gas Prices in Arizona?

Right now, according to AAA, Arizona drivers are paying an average of $4.19 per gallon. Where I live, they’ve been stalled at $4.39 for weeks. That means road trips are getting more expensive, so, like me, you might be thinking about sticking close to home, rather than taking a long road trip this summer.

The good news is you can still plan a fun and affordable day trip without spending too much.

Find Resort Day Pass Deals Near Home

Instead of taking a full vacation, it might be time to try a local “day-cation.” There are resorts in the Valley that offer day passes for families, which means you don’t need to stay overnight to have some fun. You can look for options on ResortPass, where some Phoenix-area spots start at about $20 to $45.

Arizona gets hot, but let’s face it, we’re used to it. Tourists can’t take the heat, and their loss is our gain. You’ll find the best deals in summer, when fewer tourists visit, so our local resorts lower their prices, and we benefit.

You can enjoy pools, lazy rivers, and kid-friendly activities for much less than a regular vacation, according to Axios.

Cool Off With Discount Water Parks

Water parks are another affordable way to cool off. Places like Hurricane Harbor Phoenix often sell online tickets for about $30, and that’s much cheaper than buying at the gate. You can find even more deals by visiting waterparkcoupons.net.

Check out the discounts on websites like Groupon, too. Ticket deals can take 30% to 40% off the regular price. More savings equals more fun.
