Arizona is a Hotbed for UFO Sightings

We’ve all heard the tales of the Roswell crash, and we’ve all watched classics like E.T., Alien, Paul, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Roswell is in our neighboring state of New Mexico, but Arizona is filled with more than its fair share of UFO legends and sightings.

In Arizona, you have to begin any conversation with the now-infamous Phoenix Lights incident. After nearly 20 years, we still don't have a satisfying explanation about what happened on March 13, 1997, in Maricopa County.

Where Have Sightings Been in Arizona the Most?

According to the National UFO Reporting Center’s database, Phoenix and Tucson are leaders in sightings in our state.

What Types of UFOs Have Been Seen in Arizona?

There are as many different types of experiences as there are people in our state, it seems.

Witnesses report everything from shifting lights to the classic flying saucer-shaped craft. Triangles, glowing orbs, and formations—especially those dramatic “V” shapes—are also commonly reported. Sometimes it’s one mysterious object; sometimes it’s a whole cosmic array of craft.

What Should You Do If You See a UFO in Arizona?

You can keep it to yourself (totally valid) or share it with the world by submitting a report to NUFORC or MUFON. Either way, keep looking up any evening after those beautiful Arizona sunsets dip below the horizon.
